“There’s no hand holding. There’s no foreplay. There’s just raw, dirty, grunge rock and roll…and I like it.” — Bishop & Rook
“Not unlike Pampers or Foster Care, Brooklyn four-piece Weird Womb make noisy punk that is both beer-fueled and kinda brainy, with pop knowhow in there amongst the empties.” — Brooklyn Vegan
Laziness was recorded by Alex Bonenfant who has also worked with the likes of Metz and Crystal Castles.

Midriff Records houses an eclectic bunch of artists, representing an astonishing 12% of the participating acts in this year’s Rock N Roll Rumble, including the spectacle that is Gondoliers. This month, the independent boutique label announced the addition of an equally vexatious band, Weird Womb (Brooklyn, NY) to its roster.
“We were looking to expand the roster outside Boston and these guys seemed to fit the bill,” explains Midriff Label Runner Cameron Keiber. “We are super excited to be releasing Weird Womb's Laziness EP on vinyl and digital download.”
Fresh off the Northside Festival, the Tuscon, AZ transplants are set to continue the promotion of their upcoming EP (due on September 23rd) by sharing the stage with lablemates Gondoliers during the Laziness record release show at Shea Stadium (Brooklyn) and hitting the CMJ circuit this fall, with additional East Coast dates to be announced.
To properly assimilate the four-piece noise machine, the band has released a rather uncomfortable and morally unsound music video for single, “Tanned Tits”. The 3:25 NSFW video, which literally has an age restriction on Noisey, is borderline softcore porn in nature, so we’re streaming the less offensive, hipster gaze saturated vid for “Pale Piss” off of the band’s 2013 EP Ruined by the 90’s, available for purchase on Bandcamp. — Bishop and Rook
“Just a month after the release of their nostalgically minded 7-inch Ruined by the 90’s, the Brooklyn punks in Weird Womb are set to return with a new EP later this month. Though it’s called Laziness, it’s clearly the result of anything but. They’ve already issued one dreggy single called “Luxury Punks,” but today the quartet returns with another bundle of frayed nerves called “Macy,” a similarly scummy mess of blown out bass riffs and gnarled vocalizations. If this squealing daymare of post-Metz art-punk is the result of laziness, well, you can only imagine what it’d be like if they really tried.” — SPIN
”New York punk outfit Weird Womb have proven themselves to be quite cynical over their short career. Their debut 7-inch, last year’s Ruined By The ’90s, saw the band taking a stern stance against their peers’ affection for rampant nostalgia. For their latest display of vehement pessimism, Weird Womb has unveiled “Luxury Punks”, which paints some very, very bleak prospects for success in the music business.
Throughout the track, frontman Dakota Pollock details the rise and fall of a burgeoning rock star, going from success and cocaine to unemployment and therapy. Crunchy guitar chords move rapidly underneath Pollock’s strained crooning, while lead guitarist Johnny Saczko unleashes a flurry of swirling riffs. Ultimately, it proves a potent warning of the dangers that may befall their fellow musicians, or even themselves. It’s so punk rock, in fact, that it smartly mocks punk itself.”— Consequence of Sound
“I've got a lotta love for Tucson's Weird Womb. They first came to Noisey's attention thanks to this most excellent POV video for "Tanned Tits." Also they're called Weird Womb which made me think about my own womb, and then the wombs of women in general and how truly weird a womb and all the things that happen in there is. Don't think about it too hard or your brain will explode.
I watched four movies in bed this weekend and it was fucking bliss. I think Weird Womb would appreciate how I spent my leisure time.
That being said, their gloriously scuzzy garage punk racket makes me feel like doing quite the opposite. They make me want to throw food and then roll around in the mess I've made. Thanks guys.” — VICE
